Palelai’s 60th Anniversary
2023 will mark 60 years since the inception of Palelai Buddhist Temple in 1963—a series of activities will be conducted throughout the year to celebrate this momentous occasion. A brief description of the key highlights are provided below, however the exact dates and complete details will be made available for each event individually in the Upcoming Events page.
60th Anniversary Ceremony
Date: Saturday, 13 May 2023
The highlight of the year’s activities, the main ceremony commemorating the temple’s 60th Anniversary will be held throughout on Saturday, 13th May from 8.30am onwards.
A special overnight chanting session conducted by various Buddhist traditions has been organised to bless the occasion. The Sangha members have been invited from different temples around Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. This will be held in the evening on the eve of the ceremony on Friday, 12th May from 6pm onwards.
In addition, there will be a series of Dhamma talks given by Senior Sangha members throughout the weekend, stay tuned to the event page for more information.
Heritage Wall
Date: January 2023 onwards
In commemoration of the temple’s 60 years of heritage, a permanent wall fixture displaying prominent milestones of the temple’s history is currently in display. See here for the online version in Mandarin.
Dhamma Talks by Senior Monks from the Thai Theravada Tradition
Date: All-Year Round
T0 fulfil the temple’s mission to propagate the Dhamma teachings as taught by the Lord Buddha, prominent senior monks from the Thai Theravada Tradition will be invited to give Dhamma discourses at the temple.

Remembrance Day for Palelai Devotees
Date: 1 April 2023 - 2 April 2023
To honour all the devotees and members who have contributed to the temple’s community and made it the vibrant centre of Buddhist practice that it is today, a special event will be held to recognise the selfless efforts made by them.
Itipiso 108 Chanting during Rains Retreat
Date: 22 July 2023
Regarded as one of the formal aspects of Buddhist practice, the practice of chanting is taken to the next level by reciting the qualities of the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha for 108 times. This practice helps to strengthen one’s resolve to put mental cultivation as a cornerstone of one’s life.
